With
the advantage of a blustery wind, Troon started well and
scored after only seven minutes with a break from their
own area, following a TMS corner. Five minutes later and
a
mistake from the TMS goalkeeper gifted the home side a
simple tap in for their second goal. A foul on the edge
of the area was adjudged to be a penalty by the referee
and Troon tucked away the resulting spot kick for number
three. TMS continued to struggle against the
howling wind and midway through the half the defence went
AWOL leaving two Troon players through on goal for an easy
finish to go four up. The fifth goal was probably the Home
sides best effort with good approach play and neat inter-passing
resulting in a thumping shot from an acute angle which
although goalkeeper Richard Luff did well to reach, couldn't
keep out and half time arrived with the score at 5:0.
The second half started
with TMS taking the game to their hosts and striker Dave
Hill went close with three efforts within 10 minutes all
ending agonizingly wide. With just over half an hour left
TMS finally got on the score sheet, a neat free kick found
winger K.Jones who showed a good first touch, controlled
and crossed to allow Stones Man of the Match Jeremy Hocking
a simple
tap in at the near post. The revival was short lived however
as Troon broke away and scored their sixth goal. TMS
then hit back again with two well worked goals, the first
coming from new Player Manager Steve Pascoe who turned
the defender and dispatched the ball low into the bottom
corner, this was followed by Dave Hill finally getting
his goal with a well taken shot past the outstretched Troon
keeper. Troon then finished the game off in style scoring
their seventh in the final minutes of the match.
