Illogan
were the better side in the first half and the league leaders
deserved their two goal lead at half time, although both
goals
were gifts. The first was an effort from thirty yards which
Kev Pellow should of caught easily, but the ball slipped
through his fingers and dropped into the net. The second
came from
a corner which we failed to clear and their man on the edge
of the box had time to pick his spot in the bottom left corner.
As usual we stepped up a gear in the second half and after
fifteen minutes Marc Taylor pulled a goal back, when from
Caddy's corner
he got a shin on the loose ball and deflected it goalward. A
substitution looked to be on the cards soon after when Phil
Todd and an
Illogan defender clashed heads but with an egg appearing
under his eye he wobbled to his feet and after a bit of the magic
water decided he was ok to carry on. Minutes later he turned
into Denis Bergkamp, another corner was cleared to the edge
of the
box where Toddy collected the ball on his chest and as it dropped
he hit a sweet dipping volley over the keeper only to see it
rattle the crossbar. Five minutes later Marc Taylor scored
his second goal to level the scores, he finished off a Tim
Grose cross which was headed
back across goal by Lee Fairley for Marc to finish from close
range. A couple of players went off for Illogan with injuries
and the defence were being put under increasing pressure, especially
so down the right hand side where Terry Spargo and Tim Grose
were causing havoc with some surging forward runs. And it was
from the right side that the winning goal was to come from
but from an unlikely source, with five minutes remaining
Marc Taylor turned provider with an excellent cross to the back
post where Dan Taylor was waiting to head in the winner and complete
an excellent comeback.
