  Managers Match Report...

In this battle of two promotion hopefuls Redruth started the better of the two sides, their midfield were winning the majority of balls and set up the strikers on several occasions. Fortunately neither striker could manage a shot on target. The stones started to make chances of their own after the early pressure and both Marc and Dan Taylor had goal scoring chances saved by the redruth keeper. With both teams evenly matched throughout it was going to take something special to break the deadlock in this game. Terry Spargo was the man to do it when he picked the ball up well inside his own half, after running forty yards with the ball he unleashed a shot from thirty yards out which looped over the keeper and into the top corner.

The second half was much the same as the first with Redruth slightly on top in the midfield but the Stones having the better goal scoring chances. Dan Taylor had the ball snatched from his feet by the Redruth keeper just as he was about to pull the trigger from four yards out. Spargo had another strike from long range, but this time the ball held up in the stiff breeze and dropped into the keepers arms. Redruth increased the tempo with fifteen minutes to go and a good period of play saw the ball being passed down the left hand side across in front of the the Stones defence towards the right midfielder, who unleashed a shot from the corner of the 18 yard box which gave Pellow no chance and leveled the scores at one a piece. After the restart Steve Howson tested the keeper and again he got down well. Ian Jay could have won it for the Stones when he pushed forward in the dying seconds only to see his eighteen yard shot go across the goalkeeper, but a foot wide of the post.
