  Managers Match Report...

The Stones started in the same way as last week, with a goal in the first minute to put a huge dent in Trispen's hopes of causing an upset. Chris Bailey headed the ball towards goal and slight hesitation from the keeper allowed Marc Taylor to beat him with a header from 12 yards. Trispen then had a good half hour where they hassled and upset the TMS play and had a few chances of their own, but lacked any cutting edge up front and rarely threatened Pellow's goal. It came as no surprise when fifteen minutes before half time Chris Bailey doubled the score with an acrobatic bicycle kick sort of thing??? from the corner of the six yard box that he hit under the keeper and into the bottom corner. Just before half time Phil Todd collected a throw from Terry Spargo and instead of the usual knock back to the thrower he turned and saw the trispen midfield had retreated expecting a ball into the danger area, he unleashed a shot from thirty five yards that sailed past the static goalie and into the top right corner to put us 3-0 up at the break.

The second half started as the first did, with Marc Taylor scoring his second of the game within the first minute of the restart, with the game in the bag Todd and Grose were replaced by Underhill and Counter. This was Counter's first appearance of the season for the Stones first team after an early season switch from Trispen and after a brief settling in period he soon linked up well with Howson and Caddy to carve out a shooting chance from 18 yards that skimmed the outside edge of the post with the goalie well beaten. Howson was dominating in the midfield and capped his man of the match performance with a fine solo goal with a tricky jinking run past two defenders just outside the penalty area and a finish from sixteen yards which leaves Trispen in a serious relegation battle and the Stones pushing for a promotion place.
