  Managers Match Report...

With a couple of players unavailable all rounder Gary Underhill was given a rare chance to start up front, and wasted no time at all to score his first goal of the season. With only two minutes on the clock he raced onto a through ball when the Gulval defence stopped claiming an offside and calmly slotted the ball under the advancing keeper . Within a minute Gulval were level after a corner was flicked on at the near post and some slack marking allowed a player a free header at the back post. Although not playing as fluently as i would have liked the Gulval defence looked vulnerable and it was no surprise that Marc Taylor put us in front fifteen minutes later when a defender under hit a back pass which Taylor intercepted and slotted past the stranded keeper. On the stroke of half time Taylor once again outpaced the Gulval defence and was first to a long ball out of defence from Ian Jay, he again slid the ball past the unprotected keeper for a 3-1 lead at the break.

Mid way through the second half Lee Fairley increased the lead with a well taken header from Anthony Caddy's corner kick. Ho
wever, as we have come to expect from the Gulval team over the years they have a good team spirit and a 'never give in' attitude, and they deservedly pulled a goal back with a run down their right wing and a cross which found a player unmarked who shot past Pellow. Fairley could have wrapped the game up getting on the end of some fine through balls on several occasions but his hard work was in vain because of some poor finishing. Dan Taylor was also causing the ageing defence problems with his pace, and he finished the game off in the 88th minute with a penalty after he had been brought down following a run into the penalty area.
