After
four weeks of cup matches, it was good to get back to league
action. Marc Taylor wasted no time in setting us on the
way to three points after scoring within four minutes.
R.Stephens laid the ball back from near the corner flag
for
Anthony Caddy to cross from the left and Taylor headed
in from six yards. Five minutes later Rob Pentecost headed
in from almost the same spot, this time from a caddy free
kick. Portreath then scored after
a good run down their left side and a powerfull wind assisted
drive gave Pellow no chance. Portreath then managed to derail
themselves by wasting time trying to tell the ref that
he had possibly made an incorrect decision. This
allowed the stones the chance to push forward away from the dangers
of playing up the slope and against the strong wind. Five minutes
before half time a miss-timed tackle in the box allowed Caddy
to make it 3-1 from the penalty spot.
The second half saw little good football with the Stones not
getting caught pushing too far forward and little coming from
the opposition due to having the wind and slope against them.
Twenty minutes into the half Taylor put the result beyond doubt
after
driving a shot high into the roof of the net from Caddy's corner
which was flicked on at the near post by Ian Jay. This allowed
the young subs a chance for twenty minutes action and Tregenna
and Bright showed that their more than just making
up the numbers with some useful contributions.
